The Management of Black Market Records (BMR) Uganda, takes this opportunity to warn the general public about an online scam that is being perpetrated by individuals who purport to be employees and or representatives of the company, whereas not.
Our attention has been brought to a video circulating on social media in which a lady, who doesn’t identify herself, claims to have survived being conned by people she met online, through an Instagram account called Black Market Media, on March 27th, 2023.
In the said video, the lady claims that she was promised a job as Content Creator by someone/people who contacted her through the said Instagram account, but instead of honoring their side of the bargain, they attempted to con her.
She claims the scammers promised to pay her $500 if she accepted to go for a photoshoot and then $100 per month if she accepted to work as a marketer for the company.
The Management of Black Market Records thus takes this opportunity to inform the public that as professionals, we do not conduct business through social media and neither do we run, manage or have any business partnership whatsoever, with an Instagram account called Black Market Media.
The official contacts for Black Market Records are available on all our social media platforms and all business transactions are carried out at our offices.
We therefore caution members of the general public to watch out for such unscrupulous individuals who are perpetrating this unfortunate scam.
We also advise the lady in the said video to report the matter to the nearest police station and avail detectives with the necessary evidence needed to apprehend the culprits.
At Black Market Records we advocate for the highest standards of professionalism in the media industry and operate under a strict code of ethical conduct.
